Day of the Dead & Halloween Celebrations

It's been lovely seeing visitors, tourists, and our customers appreciating and taking pictures of our current window display inspired by the Day of the Dead Holiday. The display will be available throughout this Halloween and The Day of the Dead season, so stop by to see us and enjoy some treats too!

For those of you who are not familiar with The Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos), it is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Latin America and everywhere with a Latino population. Families and friends welcome back their relatives' spirits for a short reunion that includes food, drink and celebration from October 31 through November 2. It is a time for everyone in the family to remember their deceased members in a happy and meaningful way, rather than being in sorrow and mourning about their deaths.

We're proud to share this tradition with customers, visitors, and the DC community from the storefront of Olivia Macaron. Our Founder Ana Claudia Lopez was born and raised in Torreón, a city in the Chihuahuan Desert of northern Mexico. She came from a family of entrepreneurs and had always aspired to own a successful business like her father. She opened Olivia Macaron 7 years ago and her passion and creativity is evidently reflected in all of the French macaron flavors we offer as well as other creative arts displayed at our Flagship throughout the year.
